A threaded connection in central heating is sealed according to the design of the joint. Paste may be needed on the thread, but another connection may use a flat gasket, ring, or tapered surface. Therefore, choosing the product starts with identifying the sealing location, not by applying paste to every visible thread.
Where is the seal located?
In a sealant-threaded connection, the material fills the intended space between the parts. In a connection with a separate gasket, the thread can only press the components together. Adding paste in such a place will not repair a damaged gasket or improper placement of the parts.
If you are not sure about the type of connection, check the valve drawing or instructions. This helps avoid dismantling a functioning connection and using the product in the wrong place.
Non-curing paste vs. anaerobic compound
Threaded joint paste Vitcas is a non-curing product. Vitcas PTFE Liquid is an anaerobic compound for suitable metal threaded connections. These are different modes of action; quantities and procedures for one product should not be determined based on experience with the other.
Before use, check the medium, temperature, pressure, connector material, and additives present in the installation water. Also confirm approval for the specific application. The possibility of using the product in one system does not mean compatibility with every material, gas, or drinking water installation.
What does proper repair include?
First, cut off the appropriate section, cool down the installation, and release the pressure according to the service procedure. After disconnection, the condition of the thread and sealing parts must be assessed. Excess paste does not repair a cracked body or a damaged connector.
After cleaning, use the material and quantity specified in the product instructions. Refilling requires proper leak-tightness control. If the leak reappears or access to the joint is difficult, provide the installer with the name of the fitting, the product used, and information about the working conditions. They will be able to assess the cause instead of repeating the same repair.
